Damaged hair looks dull and lifeless. You need an effective conditioner to fix those dry locks. Here are some ideas for homemade conditioners that can help you revive and revitalize the health of your hair.
Damaged hair is cracked, chipped, and roughened out. It lacks moisture, shine, and a healthy bounce. This is the reason why they require a conditioner, more than any other type of hair. The dry and brittle hair, is difficult to manage and a nightmare to live with. Often, people with such hair complain about the tedious hair care, but they fail to understand its underlying reasons. Frequent use of hair color, perming, heat, use of chemicals, and exposure to excess sunlight, pollution and dust, takes a toll on the hair. Conditioners repair the hair strand and restores its health. However, keep in mind that damaged hair care takes a lot of time, effort, and patience.
Egg Conditioner
Egg is a rich source of protein, which is what makes it a good conditioner, as hair is nothing but protein. So instead of going out and buying expensive hair care products, just take 2 eggs and break them in a bowl, separating the egg yolk from the egg white and beat the egg yolk, till it becomes light yellow and frothy. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to them and beat them again. Apply the mixture on the hair and leave it on for 20 minutes till it dries out. Once it is dry, wash it off with warm water and a mild shampoo, and while drying your hair, just pat dry them, as rubbing the hair with a towel breaks the strands further, causing irreparable damage. You can make this mix with baby oil too.
Avocado and Coconut Milk
To make this conditioner, you will need 1 avocado and a quarter cup of coconut milk. Mash the avocado well in a bowl, till all the lumps are evened out. Add the coconut milk and mix the two well, till they become thick as a shampoo. Now, wash your hair, as you usually do. Once you are done with shampooing, comb this homemade conditioner, through your wet hair. Allow it to soak in for 15-20 minutes and then rinse it off with your regular shampoo. This conditioner hydrates the strands and replenishes the hair root with nutrients.
Mayonnaise Conditioner
To make this conditioner for damaged black hair, buy a jar of real mayonnaise, which is not a salad dressing. You can even make mayonnaise at home. Wash your hair, as you normally do but instead of conditioning your hair, take half a cup of mayonnaise and comb it through your wet hair. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes, till it soaks through the roots and hydrates the damaged dry hair. Wash it off as you normally do, with warm water. If you don’t like the smell of mayonnaise in your hair, wash it off with a bit of shampoo.
Fenugreek Seeds
Take a handful of fenugreek seeds and soak them in 2 cups of water, overnight. By morning, they would have become a little fluffy. Grind them in a mixer using the same water into a fine paste. Apply this paste on your hair before shampooing, and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Wash it off with a mild shampoo and condition them with your regular conditioner. This is the only conditioner, which you can apply before washing your hair, but trust it works brilliantly and outshines every recipe mentioned. Try it out!
