Homemade Conditioners for Dry Hair

Dry hair is not so easy to maintain. However, with proper care and with the use of conditioners, you can keep it lustrous, smooth, and healthy.

Dry and damaged hair need extra care. Repairing it will definitely take time. But by using the best conditioner, you can easily get back the luster and life of your locks. While there are many conditioners specially formulated for dry and dull hair available in the market, you can always make one at home. This will cost you less and moreover, it will contain no harsh chemicals that can have adverse effects on your hair.

The Conditioners

Recipe #1

To make this, you will need 1 egg yolk, 1 cup papaya pulp, ½ cup whole milk, ½ cup coconut milk, and 2 drops of lavender oil. You can use ½ cup of aloe gel instead of 1 egg yolk. Mix these ingredients in a blender. Shampoo your hair and then apply this mixture thoroughly by making small hair section. Work from scalp to tips. Wash off after 10-15 minutes.

Recipe #2

You will need 85ml olive oil, 70ml honey, and 70ml vegetable oil. Mix these ingredients well and heat up till the mixture starts boiling. Remove it from heat and let it cool down. Pour this into a spray bottle and squirt it over your washed hair. Massage and spread well using your fingertips. Wrap your head in a hot, slightly damp towel for 60 minutes, and wash it off with a mild shampoo.

Just apply a thick layer of mayonnaise thoroughly over your hair. Comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb to spread it evenly. Leave it for 20-30 minutes and wash off your hair with a mild herbal shampoo. This is a classic deep conditioning treatment for repairing hair that is dry and undernourished.

Take henna in enough quantity as required for your hair. Add 4 tbsp. coconut oil or olive oil. Add 2 tbsp. warm milk to it and mix well. Now apply it over your hair thoroughly. Wash off after an hour.

You will require mayonnaise and avocado, ⅓ cup each, and 2 tbsp. of sweet almond oil. First mix mayonnaise and avocado in a blender. Now add oil to it and again blend it to have a smooth mixture. Apply it thoroughly over your hair. You can also apply it over damp hair. Put on a shower cap and wait for 10-15 minutes. Now rinse it off with water followed by shampoo.

You can definitely achieve long-lasting results with homemade conditioners as compared to the expensive products. Using the best conditioner will give you smooth and manageable hair too. It helps fill up the gap between cuticle layers, which further avoids formation of tangles in the hair. Hence, it reduces hair breakage.
