Limp hair can be caused due to many reasons. One of the common causes is improper hair care. If hair is not washed, conditioned, and groomed properly then it can go limp. Hence, it is very important that one follows good hair care regime regularly. Another reason that can contribute to it is poor diet. Poor diet can really degrade the quality of your hair. But not just that, it can also affect your skin and your overall health. So, one needs to follow a balanced diet to maintain healthy hair.
Follow a balanced diet which is rich in fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, balance your carbs and proteins. Eat some Mediterranean type of fats like olive oil, fish, and other sea food. Drink plenty of water too. And to provide food to your hair directly, use some good hair oils.
Find a good volumizing shampoo. Volumizing shampoos make the hair look thicker and bring bounce back in your hair. You might need to experiment with some products till you find the best shampoo that suits your hair. If you have extremely oily hair, you might need to use a volumizing-clarifying shampoo everyday.
If your hair tends to be oily even after you wash them, then first shampoo your hair and use a vinegar rinse. For this, mix 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 2 cups and wash your scalp and hair with it. This helps to get rid of excess oil on the scalp and on the hair. Also, it helps to restore back the pH balance, plus gives a light, bouncy texture to your hair.
You might need to use a light conditioner for regular hair care. You can find a good hair conditioner that suits your hair type in a supermarket. Read the label carefully to see that the conditioner is made for your hair type. If you wish to use a homemade hair conditioner, then mix one part egg with one part mayonnaise and one part olive oil. Use this mix as a hair mask for 20 minutes and then shampoo your hair. Do this twice a week, if you have dry hair. If you have oily hair then use this hair mask once in 15 days. People with oily hair can mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice in one cup of water, and use it as a light conditioner.
If you have thin, limp hair and want to create instant volume in your hair, then bend over and comb your hair backwards. Then stand straight and you will have a lot of volume in your hair. Now, part or style the hair the way you normally do. Back combing can greatly help to add volume, however avoid teasing your hair as it tends to tangle it up.
Hair Coloring + Cutting
Hair coloring with lots of skinny highlights or with lowlights adds a lot texture to your hair, thus giving it depth. If you don't have very delicate hair, consider hair coloring. You can also get some good hairstyle like a bob or choppy hairstyle to make your hair look thicker.
So, follow a good hair care regime and a healthy diet to maintain your hair to its optimum health. Good luck!
