Those who are unable to utilize the available vitamin E tend to suffer from hair loss and their hair becomes dull and dry too. Selenium is one such ingredient of garlic that facilitates proper utilization of vitamin E available in the body. Garlic supplies a number of useful vitamins like vitamin C, vitamin B-1 or thiamine, and vitamin B-6. Vitamin C promotes collagen growth that enhances the strength of the hair roots. So, it can prevent hair breakage. Thiamine improves blood circulation in the scalp which is vital for hair regrowth.
Garlic contains minerals like calcium, phosphorus, copper, manganese, etc., that are good for hair. Calcium is an integral part of the structural component of hair. Manganese helps to use up various nutrients in the body that are good for hair health. Copper and iron obtained from garlic add shine to your hair.
Uses of Garlic Oil for Hair
Topical application of garlic oil is good for both hair as well as the scalp. It's possible because the oil contains rich extracts of garlic. These extracts promotes growth of new hair and brings about marked improvement in its condition. Massaging of garlic oil improves blood circulation in the scalp region, removes harmful toxins from the scalp surface, and makes the hair roots strong. Those who have dry hair, or are bothered by an itchy scalp can get rid of these problems by using garlic oil.
Preparation of garlic oil
To prepare garlic oil for hair, soak a handful of garlic cloves in one cup of olive oil for a week. After that, you can apply this freshly prepared oil on hair for the next one or two weeks. Gently massage the oil on the scalp before bedtime with special attention on those areas which have suffered hair loss. After applying the oil, cover up the head with a shower cap and go to bed. Next morning, wash your hair with a mild shampoo.
Repeat this application for some weeks and soon you will observe that the hair fall problem is under control and hair regrowth has already started. Occasionally, you can use garlic on hair a bit differently. For this, cut the garlic cloves into thin slices and directly rub them into the thinning areas of the scalp. Wait for an hour and then apply olive oil on the scalp. Keep it on the hair overnight and shampoo your hair in the morning.
Garlic oil is a natural substance and can be safely used by most people. However, it is not suitable for those who are allergic to garlic. They are advised not to use garlic oil in any form, be it for consumption or for external application. Or else, it may give some adverse side effects.
