Benefits of Eggs
Smiling Woman
As mentioned already, eggs are an important dietary source of proteins and B vitamins. So, raw eggs when applied on hair can help strengthen it, and promote its growth, as hair is basically made of protein.
Along with proteins, the egg white contains some enzymes that can inhibit the growth of bacteria and thus, keep your scalp healthy. On the other hand, the egg yolk is rich in fats and so, it can help moisturize the hair strands deeply.
The fatty acids found in the yolk can make your hair shiny and glossy, and prevent dandruff and hair loss. The egg yolk also contains many essential vitamins, like vitamin A, D, and E. These vitamins are important for growing healthy hair.
Vitamin A and E help prevent dryness, while vitamin D can promote hair growth. The B vitamins found in raw eggs on the other hand, can improve the circulation of blood in the scalp.
How to Use Eggs on Hair
Eggs can be used in many different ways to promote hair growth, prevent hair loss and condition or moisturize hair. Use raw eggs alone or mix them with olive oil, lemon juice, honey, yogurt, castor oil, etc. The addition of these ingredients enhances egg's benefits for hair. If you are considering egg treatment for hair, then here are some recipes for you.
Hair Conditioning
To use eggs for conditioning your hair, you will need 1 or 2 egg yolks according to the length of your hair and 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive or baby oil. First, separate the egg yolk from the egg white and beat it properly. Then add 1 or 2 tablespoons of olive oil or baby oil to it and mix them properly. Now, dilute the mixture by adding some lukewarm water.
Before applying this hair mask, wash your hair with a mild shampoo. Squeeze out the excess water, and then apply this homemade conditioner on your hair thoroughly. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes, after which rinse it off with lukewarm water. Never use hot water to rinse your hair.
Hair Loss
Hair loss can also be controlled to a great extent by using eggs. Mix two egg yolks with about 1 tablespoon of castor oil. Mix both the ingredients properly, and then massage it on your hair and scalp. Keep it for about half an hour, and then rinse it off with water. This treatment will make your hair stronger, shinier, and well-moisturized.
Hair Growth
To use eggs for promoting hair growth, take two raw eggs, one cup yogurt, and 1 tablespoon honey and lemon juice. First, beat the eggs and add a cup of yogurt to it. Whip the solution until you get a frothy paste. Then pour 1 tablespoon each of honey and lemon juice into the paste, and mix them properly.
Apply this mixture to your hair, and leave it for about 15 to 20 minutes. Now, rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water. You can also use a mixture of egg and olive oil for promoting hair growth.
By using eggs, you can make your hair soft, shiny, and manageable, prevent hair loss and split ends, and promote hair growth. Even problems like dandruff can be controlled with egg treatment.
